Matt is driven to create, build, and explore the world around him. From his days at St. Xavier High School where he learned to be a man for others and to strive for the Magis to walking the hills of Muskingum University and learning to tell a story and ending at Ohio University where he learned to care for the whole person, Matt is constantly learning. He truly believes that competition and adversity allow us all to learn, grow, and become better versions of ourselves. He believes in the quote that “A rising tide raises all boats” and is open to learning more about the world around him.

Matt currently lives in the Cincinnati area with his wife and 3 children. Matt attended St. Xavier High School in Cincinnati where he was a rower and a 3-year varsity bowler. He then went to Muskingum University to get his degree in communication with a specialty in digital media convergence. Matt returned to school at Kent State University before enrolling in the Master’s Program at the Ohio University in Athens, Ohio where he got his masters in Speech and Language Pathology.

Matt has presented at OSLHA running the Schools Caucus in 2016, 2017, 2019, and 2020. He has also presented at the ASHA Convention on the ethics of being an SLP and podcasting in 2019. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in 2003. He was recognized in 2018 with the Golden Apple Award at Fairfield City Schools. He was also awarded the Ohio Speech-Language-Hearing Association Fellow of the Association in 2019. Matt is a published author, contributing to the book “Becoming an Exceptional SLP Leader: 14 Speech-Language Pathologists Do More Than Talk.” In 2022, Matt received the Emerging Alumni Award from his Alma Mater, Muskingum University.


Matt’s love of sports continues today where he is a USBC Silver Level Coach and is the head coach for the St. Xavier High School Bowling program. He is also involved with volunteer work serving as his son’s Scout Leader.


Before becoming an SLP, Matt spent time in the radio booth working in sports and behind the camera on TV. He was the color commentator for the Little League World Series games for AVC communications and the ESPN affiliate in Cambridge, Ohio. He did play-by-play work for WMCO and the Muskingum College Baseball team as well as play-by-play and color commentating for Zanesville Football on WHIZ. He has spent time as a broadcast director for news and sports programs for WHIZ, Columbus Sports Network, and WETM-TV. His last terrestrial radio positions saw him work for Backyard Broadcasting where he worked mid-days on WNGZ and mornings and weekends on WNKI.

Matt has worked as an SLP for over 10 years serving both children and adults. He has worked in middle schools, high schools, SNFS, and home health. He has previously served as the Ohio Schools Representative for the Ohio Speech-Language-Hearing Association as well as the State Education Advocacy Leader for Ohio in the American Speech-Langauge-Hearing Association.

Matt and his production company, MWH Production, have consulted on the start-ups of multiple podcasts including; Talking With Tech, Swallow Your Pride, Xceptional Leaders, and the Hyndsyte Project.
